The research programme ‘The dynamics of difference‘ studies collective aspects of leadership work through the close study of interaction.
I am interested in how managers bring about change related to leadership – either a change in their own leadership practice and/or change in how leadership is understood in their organisations, usually as an activity which less about individuals and more about what it is possible to achieve together.
I take a linguistic ethnographic approach which combines an ethnographic, field-based approach with the empirical procedures and analytical tools of linguistics. Linguistic Ethnography (LE) is committed to developing understandings that can be drawn on in practice.
I do research work which can be applied to real organisational problems and work closely with professionals.
